Cyclone Pam leaves a trail of destruction throughout the islands.

Our team arrives on Tuesday 24th and the big clean up begins.

The school buildings hold up to cat 5 cyclone! Awesome! Also used as emergency shelter during the storm.

Major progress on site with all roof areas covered and just the side veranda to go. Hope to complete some doors today and have the job complete in readiness for the farewell tomorrow. Check this space out later for an update on the adventures of Faith. We are making Laplap from scratch including collecting firewood coconuts, manioc and island cabbage. Should be another fun morning!

The boys had a big day on Sunday after the students left for hideaway. Hope they are pleasantly surprised today when they arrive.

A big day for the construction team. Mixing concrete island style, setting up main steel work and prepping the floor boards. We had a good 'ok Aussie BBQ followed by a moving afternoon exploring local village life. Out group got to watch an old lady making gateau for the market. They are a long skinny pastry type dough deep fried. The guys had a look through the house and sleeping quarters. The cooking hut is across the yard and the washing area is separate again. Rather humbling experience I think. I know I will enjoy and appreciate my comfy bed tonight!
